@darius Yeah in fact my comment was prompted by seeing your post earlier @ Jon Jones (who I don't follow). It's interesting to note that direct replies *won't* appear, though.

It seems odd to me that this is the default behaviour. I wonder if it's a deliberate choice or if it's just not been a priority to change it.

@clinkingdog you correctly diagnosed the issue in your post, the problem is basically that there is no way to tell if something is truly "@" someone unless it's a direct post reply. Twitter of course solved this by just saying "yes it is". I'm trying to dig up the relevant issue and conversation/rationale but actually having trouble finding it!
