Based on the amount of spam signups on pixelfed.social, I wouldn't be surprised if spam accounts correlate to other platforms recent user influx as well.

I'm not saying all growth is spam, but they are significant enough on my :pixelfed: instance to be noticable.

Luckily, 90% of spam accounts on Pixelfed are caught and hidden before any user sees them thanks to our Autospam system.

@dansup Seems right to me. Mastodon.social trumps everything in the daily server signups on @mastodon_daily_active_users , but when I check from which server new followers for me come from, only a very small percentage is from m.s. Ofcourse new followers =/= new signups, and n=1 etc.
