It's also worth noting that if you're particularly tech-y and have a spare computer around, running a Mastodon or Pleroma server isn't too difficult!

@feditips Perhaps the idea of having an account live on multiple servers would be a feature to implement in the future. It would make sense to limit this, but it would fit nicely with the concept of decentralization and it would prevent an account from being lost if a server suddenly disappears.

A backup mastodon account should be normalized. I've got my OG account on Mastodon.social which I use for mostly bird pics and this one for more tech stuff, but my follows are pretty similar on both.

Already moved to #TechHub months ago and have my native language account on #MML. :) It is sometimes confusing sitting from both and typing in whatever language the OP is writing on only to realize that account language is reversed, but hey... Redundancy rules!

@feditips what's a backup account worth if you don't mirror at least the accounts you follow?
So wouldn't be an (automated) daily/weekly export of your following list be more useful?

I think it makes more sense to migrate to a smaller instance.

If you consciously want to have 2 identities it probably makes sense, but that’s a different scenario.

Thank you for this @feditips - I did notice and I will take your advice. The fediverse. is so much more errr, social, supportive and sensible than the old poorly parrot site. It’s a shame that others dont have enough to do that they attack/break/bully others.

@feditips Hey, mastodon.social has been broken on mobile for me every time I've tried to check it in the past year. This is all I see, with nothing to scroll or tap or anything. It works fine from apps, but the web version is completely inaccessible. This is the case with any browser I try too. Do you have an explanation for this?
