omg the climatologist signaling anyone can talk to them, you are very brave indeed. I always felt like for all the talk about outreach on borb it was actually impossible to do because the only ppl who interact with ppl in a given field enough for the (usually boring-ish, inside baseball) posts to get sorted at the top are ppl in that field. otherwise it was mostly outrage or scandal that reached non-academics

climatologist on duty like mod duty and ppl can summon them with a hashtag to ask questions. I like that. I need to get my thread archiving bot running so we can make stuff like that into a more durable living document, because I love the informality and think it's a perfect way to make information more accessible -- and archiving can also make it cumulative!

there are also other neuroscientists here and I am like omg maybe we can make the thing some ppl wanted to do of public dissemination of science to nonscientists/other disciplines actually real by having instances ppl can go to ask about stuff instead of just being in a big seemingly public but actually very insular ball on borbzone
