I just arrived in Bad Nieuweschans. The most northern Dutch-German border town with a railroad connection. It's connected to Groningen with a very regular Arriva service.
Tomorrow morning I'll first take the #RailroadBridgeReplacementBicycle to Leer (as since 2015 the Friesenbrücke is temporary out of service... ) and then trains via Bremen and Hamburg to go home.

I love how so often in nature a functional thing has beauty that transcends the function we ascribe to it.
Here's a growing cone from a larch tree. In a couple of weeks it'll be a hard nut-like structure, ready to withstand abuse. In its current state it would not look out of place next to an anemone in some warm oceanic reef :-)

@EU_Commission And bigger actions make a much larger difference to our planet. How about you turn on all the lights and instead use your power to govern: start turning off the lights of the global fossil fuel industry.
It's time for the bigger players, like our European institutions, to stop doing the symbolic little actions and instead use their agency to propel us towards real change.

"In addition, where they bought the multimodal journey under one transport contract, they will be entitled to assistance by the carrier"
Unfortunately there's no serious push from the European commission or any international regulatory body to force providers to sell more trips (specifically train & bus) as "one transport contract". So the situation for many travelers will stay the same*
*not taking the last train, going for very large transfer times, opting for car/plane etc.
