Photo of an extremely mossy oak tree trunk, growing up from an equally mossy tumbledown stone wall on the bank of a stream. There appears to be a face at the base of gnarly bulbous trunk, above which multiple stems branch out like green tentacles. Polypody ferns sprout from the southern facing branches. Sunlight streaming through trees on the opposite side of the stream (on the right of the frame) creating brighter patches of green. The stream is small but rushing white over rocks after recent rain. The opposite bank is largely in shade, the sun low behind the densely wooded slope. The floor is still brown with fallen leaves and new leaves are yet to burst forth. Above the skyline, through the trees, is a strip of bright blue sky.
