@dansup is it only for static images? can i use it as my media repository for memes and gif that i then embed on my posts on mastodon? what bothers me at the moment is that we can't really reuse media we post here. so i'd like very much to use y'all for that.

(btw, i am one of those dormant accounts because i don't have at the moment a use for my fancy photography and y'all are waaaay too fancy. it's why i've shied away for now. i feel like uploading my reaction GIFs will be frowned upon)

@dansup I'm a light user, I think it'd be easier for me if I wasn't several years off instagram, trying to find people I click with is hard.

@dansup I'm in the 95% (sorry) because I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to use Pixelfed, where I know no one, vs Mastodon, where I have a bunch of friends already.

The other reason is that on the Pixelfed web interface, I can't seem to see alt text the way I can here on Mastodon, just by hovering over an image. (ETA: okay I *can* actually! Neat! but it doesn't show me which images don't have alt text.)

But I really like the idea! and I want it to succeed! and I want all my friends who are still using instagram to move over!

@dansup what do you mean by active users? Posting pictures only or just logging in counts too?

@dansup reason i didnt use it much after signing up was it was kind of difficult to find people. same issue with masto i guess, but between the two, i just stuck to one platform as I can still follow everyone wherever.

I wonder if the overlap of masto users with pixelfed is partly to blame for the lower MAU.

@dansup Hopefully one of those plans is a checkbox that says "I'm an adult, please stop blurring things for me thanks" ?
