Local and Federated on large servers are just incomprehensible firehoses.

If you're on a smaller and more specialised server Local can be useful though. You don't need to be a member to browse a server's Local, you can just go to the server's website and there will be a link on the front page.

@feditips @turysaz @Mastodon A smaller localized/specialized #mastodon instance on the other hand will tend to have only the people and the content of its specialization, which requires me to join multiple instances and manage multiple accounts if I have diverse interests. There is no such thing as a unified personal “inbox” across all of them is there?
