BookWyrm is a federated social reading network, and the Fediverse's alternative to Amazon Goodreads.

You can find out more about how to join at:

➡️ joinbookwyrm.com

The official project account is at @bookwyrm

BookWyrm lets you import your data from Goodreads, LibraryThing, Storygraph, Open Library and Calibre. Here's how to do it:

You can follow BookWyrm accounts from Mastodon, as they are both part of the Fediverse.

@feditips @bookwyrm Is it intended for writers as well as readers?

@feditips @bookwyrm I have seriously been looking for an alternative to Goodreads solely because Amazon has ruined it. This is awesome.

@feditips @bookwyrm I don't understand why I would join. I post reviews of what I read on my regular Mastodon instance. I search by genre when I am looking for a new book to read

Would I have to leave my current instance and join the bookwyrm instance?

What's the advantage to following someone on bookwyrm if I already follow them on Mastodon?

thanks in advance

@feditips @bookwyrm

Are any #BookWyrm instances or linked sites set up for avid readers who want to track or reference more than a few books at a time?

When I tried out BookWyrm before, I was disappointed by how difficult it is to find books previously added within my own account.

Everything felt geared to reading one or two books at a time, reviewing it for any followers, then moving on to another book with no interest in past reads or old recommendations. That's not what I do....

@feditips @bookwyrm last time I looked there wasn't much in the way of good instances. Maybe that's changed?

@feditips @bookwyrm I didn't know Goodreads was run by Amazon. A friend of mine just came out w/their first book and wanted me to help promote it on Goodreads (it's a very good book). I joined, but something about the platform itself made me hesitate. Hmm. Def. going to join BookWyrm, though.

@feditips @bookwyrm I could not be in a social network that uses Spanish in a political way, not following the rules for “inclusive language” that is not needed because Spanish is inclusive “per se”

@feditips @bookwyrm -- I don't suppose you've seen a Fedi-version of Untappd? I have nothing against Untappd -- just curious.

@feditips @bookwyrm #Bookwyrm is a politically restricted operation that doesn't want anyone who rejects its socialist dogma. garymcgath.com/wp/bookwyrm/
