Have you ever needed to send money to someone urgently? πŸ’Έ

Our new proposal aims to make payments in euros instant for anyone with a bank account in any EU or EEA country, at no extra cost compared to a regular money transfer.

The switch from "next day transfers" to "transfers in ten seconds" is comparable to the switch from mail to email.

@EU_Commission It's weird that this works in parts of Europe already (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, for example).

@EU_Commission in France most (if not all) already have this service, but it is often not free and limited to national transfers.
(Yes it varies depending on the bank, I know)

It is time to finally have this available for free for all transfers, at every bank ! Great πŸ‘πŸ»

@EU_Commission I'm using Revolut and I have instant transfers there for quite a while. Transfer to my Slovenian bank, blink, couple of seconds and it's there. That's sweet. Doesn't go the other way around, though :(

@EU_Commission Revolut does it for free, both private and business account. Erste Bank in Austria charges a whopping 7€ fee for business account. It’s free on private accounts.

Tomorrow at EUHQ: new rule, every post needs to include a meme.
In a year: taskforce on meme efficacy and why red font does not work as well as white font for 17 million € a year.

@EU_Commission @Ambajorat this is so cool! I still hate that it takes so long in the US to send payments to folks. Or you need to use apps for it. I’d rather it be at the bank level and fast.

@EU_Commission I was led to believe by my French bank that this was already the case - this explains my confusion.
