You don't need to use the official Mastodon apps, they're not the best way to use Mastodon. The official apps only arrived last year, and they were intended as "Fisher Price My First Mastodon" things with a restricted set of features.

Third party apps have been around longer than official ones, and include way more features. You can sign in with the same account on all apps.

On Android try Tusky, Fedilab, Megalodon, Tooot

On iPhone/iPad, try Toot!, Ice Cubes, Ivory, Mona

I use @Fedilab Fedilab app on Android. It works great for me. It's very full featured and well supported with improvements coming regularly.

@feditips I would so love to try the #Mona #Mastodon #app, but their #website and #PrivacyPolicy both require #JavaScript enabled.

To bad. I’d have been happy to pay for something I could trust, and I’m happy to point out when a dev tells you one thing about privacy in the #Apple #AppStore and something else on their website.

I’ve done it here before and I’ve got nothing to lose by pointing it out
