We are getting rooftop solar PV at home and when we sell energy, we are going to get paid £0.041/kWh. (When we buy we are getting it at £0.39/kWh.)

The UK caps energy prices for households but doesn’t set a floor for households selling back to the grid.

How does this compare with other countries? I think it is a disgrace and discouraging residential solar here.

@Janetgunter I agree the price disparity between selling electricity and buying it is way too large just now. But if your solar panels charge a battery then some electricity companies sell electricity for around £0.07 per unit between 1am and 4 am. Tariffs are aimed at people with electric cars but seem to work well for people with a solar panels and battery

@Janetgunter I’m in Spain, about to install PV cells as well. We are paying 0,34€/kwh during the most expensive time slot, and will be paid 0,176 for what we sell back to the grid. I will be installing a device which uses as much as possible of the PV production to heat water.
