@drmaddkap I'm not very confident about this suggestion because of the Speech and Debate clause of the US Constitution, which reads in part:

> [The Senators and Representatives] shall in all cases, except treason, felony and breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest [...] for any speech or debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other place.

This has created a doctrine of "legislative immunity" which holds that they can't be prosecuted for writing laws.
