@feditips The example you sent looks very nice. I haven't scrolled all the way through it, but it seems fine.

What I was referring to were profiles (many I've encountered, but I can gather up specific examples if you need them - let me know) that have moved from other instances. Such profiles have the link "Browse more from the other profile" at the bottom of their feeds. When I click on that link, it opens a new window, I am not logged in in that window, it won't let me log in, etc.

Ahhhh... ok, got you. That's something separate, nothing to do with the Fediverse as such.

It's due to lack of "backfilling" on a federated system.

If an account has never been followed or shared by anyone on your server before, it will appear to be blank. If that happens, the current behaviour of Mastodon is to link to the account's public page on its home server. This public page is up to date, but the downside is that because it's not on your server it's fiddly to interact with.
