* intelectual property laws prevent repair efforts
* repair labor costs are by far exeed, prices of imported goods from sweatshops

If only there were a competent non-corrupt government regulating these issues with good intentions (i.e. trying to understand the issues and arguments involved, instaed of mostly following neoliberal ideology and industry lobbyist suggestions ...)
