Enjoying Portland thunder and lightning fediverse right now (for those not local: yes it rains here a lot but thunder and lightning are rare)

@darius I was SO GLAD it didn't start until after the Track meet I was covering yesterday. Getting 300 people to safety quickly and efficiently is always stressful. As it was I had to tell my distance coach "no, they cannot stretch before. Get on the bus, NOW. " bc lightning was about 5 miles from us at that point and in less than 2 minutes was under 3. That storm was moving FAST
@darius Seattle had a lovely light show, too! Seemed like it was coming up the sound, or from the Olympics.

@darius@friend.camp That always weirded me out when I lived in BC - way more hail than I was used to, and way less lightning (my baseline being 'New England', where we get a lot of summer thunderstorms)
