I am an almost 33 year old man in a toy store (this is not weird, I’m just setting the scene).

Apparently Hot Wheels, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Harry Potter and Beyblades (?!) are still the “thing”?

Also Vanessa Hudgens is piping through the speakers, from the High School Musical concert album? I’ve seen every one of those movies (three years younger sister but also im a musical lover, get your head in the game). This album was released in 2007. Seventeen years ago.

Is this for the children, starved of any modern entertainment, the adult staff, or the millennial parents?

Either way I feel very confused and old as I’m looking for the final accessory to the very adult suit I’m having made that will be finished in twenty mins.

@james there's always an imposition of the parent generation's children's media and activities on current actual children. As an American in the 80s we had so many "sock hops", just a recreation of childhood rituals from 40 year old people of the time. That and the Flintstones, Jetsons, etc were also core children's media
