@searls co-conspirators include Tesla management & shareholders, government regulatory body leaders, and politicians allowing these things on the road. And, yes, the “driver”/owner of this thing. All of these people made choices leading to death.

I don't think Tesla has any liability here, since their tech was not at all involved. This incident is entirely on Uber.

@searls It seems clear that a 'fallback driver' here is, quite literally, a fall guy.
If a company (Uber in this case) pushes all liability down to its drivers, then it is clear that as an employee you are in the firing line for the company's failings.
