@misc I believe the answer is yes because otherwise you'd have to federate block lists with the message in order for other servers to know you've blocked a server

There are ways around this that don't compromise security (object capabilities etc) but they are pretty far out in terms of implementation

@darius @misc I don't think that's the case? an Announce activity can in principle embed the object being announced, but afaik every major implementation references it by url. so the receiver of the Announce (Threads) would have to dereference the announced object, which would fail if Sue's instance enforces signed fetch
