So what's the current state of GDPR compliance? Is enforcement actually happening? Is basically every company still just doing logical/soft deletes when a user asks for their data to be deleted?

And believe it or not: There's a lot of conflict with other laws. For example Tax and general retention obligations. It's a mess.

@searls last two jobs the strategy was overwrite with nonsense + policy around DB backups that any restore would include re-overwriting anything that was restored. One public company, one private healthcare.
