@lucian Last time I tried to do this as part of an internal code-reading club, we picked from a list that included the following Ruby gems

* batch_loader
* friendly_id
* ializer
* money
* phoney
* propshaft
* pundit
* rolify

Not completely sure how useful all of those would be, but they should all be kind of small-ish.
