@darius right?? It doesn’t have any kind of a root system, just sits on the ground. Our neighbors dragged it over on a big tarp because they had extras. It sat there for almost a year and then made this… thing. The leaves have shrunken by a lot, I guess all its material is going into the flowers.

There have been a few hummingbirds sipping on the flowers. I think this is the end of its lifecycle.
