Do you want to embed Mastodon posts within a WordPress page?

The WordPress "Embed" block may not work properly for all servers.

A surer method is to copy the embedding code from Mastodon into a WordPress "Custom HTML" block.

You can get a post's embedding code (the one that begins with <iframe src=...) by clicking ⋯ on the post and then Embed. Copy this entire code into the Custom HTML block in WordPress.

@feditips I want to embed a WordPress w/ActivityPub blog entry in a Mastodon post with all WordPress formatting preserved.

Is this possible?

@feditips I think if you just paste a link to the post, it will grab the embed code from the oEmbed <link>? #WordPress

@feditips (not all posts work with the embed functionality, and that's ok)

@feditips I just wrote like a dozen lines of code that gives me a [toot] shortcode to call the API and native embed the toot right into my posts…

@feditips If you’re not on a paid #WordPress sub that allows plugins or coding, you can use a combo of the Social Icons and RSS blocks to replicate some of the in-built support for #birdsite profiles. It’s functional, if not perfectly formed 😜

@feditips
Would this also work on Blogger?

@feditips Is this for single posts or for a users feed to be embedded?
