@darius The OG fedi response to a lot of these features has been "if it suggests something that doesn't produce data-level privacy/security, it's harmful bc it fakes people out," which I also totally get, but which leaves so much acceleration vs deceleration stuff on the table. I'd like to see public user testing on ways to be clear about what's a brake vs. what's a wall.

@kissane good point, establishing norms + marginal addition of friction is not-nothing.
to your point about what "safety" is, I encounter this a lot where some set of people define safety as "I don't want to see/know that I am being dunked on" and another set defines it as "I want dunking on me to be impossible or at least incredibly hard"
