@EU_Commission cringe. Also trying to reinvent something without vendors on board is possibly a big waste of money and time. COVID has shown that the possibility to create widely used standards is possible why not use it and create a short lived, shitty, userspace app?

@EU_Commission

Would you care to explain why the EU wants to break browser encryption for everyone? Doesn't sound too secure to me.

@EU_Commission
This could have been a great catalyst to digitalization in EU which is both crucial and welcome.

However, forcing browsers to support certificate authorities is a categorically bad idea, and designating specific certificates to be automatically approved makes this a blatantly obvious honeypot.

It's a shame the @EU_Commission is willing to sacrifice digitalization in what I assume is the guise of security. This trick can be used once, after which anybody who needs to hide, will

> With full control over your data, privacy, and security

Claims the same institution that wants to scan ALL my private conversations.

I think you meant to write "with the EU having full control over your data".

@EU_Commission get your hands OFF end to end encryption and certificate trust. Anyone with mal-intent & half a brain can get around the browser restrictions you propose but for everyone else, it's a charter for unjustified snooping and an opportunity for fraud, corruption and incompetence.

@EU_Commission

Why using a childish advertisement? Is this how you treat democracy?

At least it's a sovereign alternative to gafam identity providers.

@EU_Commission I can see a real use for this in Sweden. Currently there is a standard eID, which it is very hard to practically live without, that is created and issued by a consortium of big banks. I would rather trust an EU eID with my data than that. Also for those moving to Sweden from other parts of the EU (who find it hard to get the BankID) it would make life way easier.
