@darius @beka_valentine Right, makes sense. But since they seem to be focused on the Japanese market, I’m not sure the broader non-Japanese ecosystem is really what they were thinking about.

@darius @beka_valentine And the CSAM hosted on Pawoo is fictional/art, which isn’t illegal in Japan (or the US) but is in most of the other countries Mastodon instances are hosted in. I get the impression the instances defederating with Pawoo are doing it over legal liability, which ends up being another angle they’re cut off on linguistic grounds - which might not really be a blocker if they’re only focused on one country and language.
