Just to clear up some confusion about how hashtag following works on Mastodon apps:

If you follow a hashtag on Mastodon, posts from those followed tags will be visible on your home timeline on the website AND in all the apps.

So, for example, you could log in through your server's website, follow the tags you want, and then go back to using your favourite app.

If you want to follow more tags, you can currently only do that through a website or Android apps Fedilab & Subway Tooter.

@feditips I'm quite sure we're all getting there. It's more or less the same GUI i find. Just slightly different icons. Fairly easy with that "know how". If anyone is stuck, i'll refer them to an oracle of knowledge :) - thanks for that though.

@feditips To follow hashtags in Toot! for iOS, tap the hashtag. This will take you to the search screen, with the tag you tapped in the search field, in the format <#TagYouTapped@your.mastodon.instance> (without brackets). Tap the three dots in the top-right corner, then tap the button that says, “Pin <#TagYouTapped>”.

@feditips hi- great tips thanks. One annoying thing I’ve found is when you’re typing a hashtag it auto generates suggestions in alphabetical order based on your typing- so often brings up badly spelled one’s first. Could it generate them based on usage rather than. Alphabetical order? #Mastodon
