Circles, Stories and Group Chats

These are the 3 key features I think will bring new users to Pixelfed and encourage continued engagement by embracing IRL conversational and connected experiences via these various mediums.

✨ Show off those iconic photos with everyone

✨ Send those memes to the group chat

✨ Share that moment with followers via your Story

✨ Select a circle of people to share with

@dansup I noticed privacy mentioned on the pixelfed website. Are DMs end-to-end encrypted? makedmssafe.com/

@dansup please make the display of stories above the timeline optional. This was one of the things that drove me away from Instagram and Facebook.

@dansup I mean, stories kinda became a meme because everyone decided they needed to be a thing...

Then again, I guess for insta, that's really the one pace it actually makes sense, doesn't it.

@dansup step 0 should be working federation including likes, reshares and seeing the full profile when searching for people imho. All new people including myself have a hard time grasping why this does not work, although there are valid reasons for now I believe. Running your own instance is no joy when interactions are not federated (comments are though). People on big ones might not notice this as much. Also people not seeing my images on other instances from time to time is also not so nice.

@dansup Hii, I've not made a Pixelfed account yet, but I wonder if you can (or will be able to) boost posts via stories? (Share button>Add post to story) It's really the only thing I use stories for on Instagram

@dansup how about allow users with no user accounts to view images and posts marked public, just like Twitter and Facebook once were open communities and you could search and find users and user images and posts simply by using a google seach, allow webcrawlers inside in other words. I stopped using Facebook once they closed the door. Twitter is only slightly better still.
