@IgnisIncendio there is mention in:

But like you say average person doesn't care about this. Yet, the Fediverse is more exciting than this.

I co-maintain a list of fedi apps at delightful.club/delightful-fed and these add to the richness of our shared social experience.

More and more newcomers only know Mastodon.

@IgnisIncendio the #Fediverse is in sort of precarious position. We don't have a steering organization that ensures all these apps can integrate and as a result fedi projects go their own way and integrations become ever harder. It's going into a direction where we may squander the opportunity to get fedi to its full potential.

It is premature to say "we are this-and-that great app, and there's more other apps". Active collaboration to weave stronger social fabric is needed, to stop divergence.

@humanetech Very good point. I also wish that things like #Lemmy or #Peertube are more popular. I think a large part of #Mastodon’s popularity comes from the silo’s controversies; maybe that can be used for #Youtube etc as well.

There was a slight misunderstanding; I meant that the average user just cares about downloading the app, not too much about how to eg self-host a server. I guess I was a bit too excited, rushed and overly-broad in my wording.

I’ll take a look at your website!
