Editing posts on Pixelfed is a WIP.

I'm only able to do so much, and comments like these feel great 😅

Adding api support to Stories is much easier than refactoring the federation logic to support post edits. That being said, I expect this to ship in the next month!

@dansup The platforms themselves might support it but I’ve found implementation of edits in apps to be spotty at best.

@dansup you’re doing great! It’s too easy for users to forget there’s just a person (or small number of people) behind most open source projects, not a corporation. There was a nice way to say what they said: “for me personally, editing would be a higher priority than stories.” Oh well. Keep up the solid work.

@dansup thank you for all the great work you do Dan! If people want more features they should fund development! patreon.com/dansup

@dansup

Don't let comments like this get to you!

Some people use hyperbole on the internet when something calmer would have done. ("I don't like this" -> "This is a non-starter")

I'm guessing it's a bad habit people have picked up from clickbait headlines?

Whatever you can do is great, and if you need help with getting something done let people know!

@dansup You’re doing a great job, no matter the silly expectations who don’t pay you a dime.

@dansup OP may be unaware, but Mastodon recently added this capability. How long has it taken Twitter?

To be fair, people new to PixelFed will desire some level of feature parity w/ Instagram (and some people don't; see Stories). There are features only PF has, & some which will never see the light of day on IG (but they do love to copy, so who knows😎). By the time parity, where it makes sense, is reached PF could have more features than IG. IG is known to drag feet, util someone else does it.

@dansup it might have not been put very well and obviously by someone who is frustrated , but I think it’s a good point. There’s lots I’d like to see (following hashtags, easier discovery of content, better sign up flow etc) that I think would be better at attracting users than stories (which only really work when you already follow lots of people). But I recognise you need to do what seems right for you.
