@RARohde We do not have a "high barrier to entry". We have approved master students working on their thesis, PhD students are definition working on publications. People who send us a recent preprint or told us about the science they were about to write up.

If some do not want to be part of FediScience that is fine. In fact this server is getting rather big and it is good that other servers pop up to distribute power.

People on all science servers can talk to each other.

@VictorVenema @FrankSonntag @steve @RARohde If you accept these students who don’t yet have publications, then why does it say the opposite in the signup form?

Folks can claim “performative vitriol” if they want, but there’s a very particular narrow demographic of scientist who this particular hoop/gate appeals to. You’re getting feedback from many of the rest (a far more diverse crowd) that find it extremely off-putting and needlessly exclusionary right at the gate. It’s worth asking why.
