@dansup if we can store the video we made like inside loops in the device after publish on loops yeah, at least we have a copy of the created video, and it's not vanished forever.

😉

@dansup I dont think its a bad idea, but it would make it feel a lot more ephemeral which would give a very different vibe i think.

if thats the gameplan i almost would think if there was a way to to make the limit modifiable relatively easily so if someone wanted to make the limit higher or longer on their instance they could do it easier maybe?

@dansup Only 20 Loops at a time would encourage making a lot of profiles with 20 Loops each and linking them together like static content.

Deleted after 1 Month would give me (personally!) no motivation in posting anything, because what I post I want as a self-documentation. If it is hidden after 1 or 3 Months, but I can still access it, that would be okay. But also could motivate reposts again and again - meh.

Just my 2 cents. :) Thanks for your work!

@dansup If you're looking for a less-staged feature, my first thought would be BeReal, where you have a random timer each day to post your BTS/photo within the next 2 minutes after a trigger. Maybe something similar?

@dansup A month? I'd say a week. Not many people will look past that if the person is making a video every day.

@dansup For the flagship server, a time limit might be good, but for less active servers a number limit might be better. I can imagine it wouldn't be very attractive to look at a less active server and nobody has any videos in their profile.

@dansup Yes, limit at 20 or best: 32 loops,
possibility to pin the 5 best on top,
and charge the pro-user for 50+ loops maybe (premium account ?) for instances that want/can charge.

@dansup I'm not sure if I like it. Would be a shame to delete good content just because it reaches an artificial expiry date. But I completely understand if you have to do it to keep the media storage manageable.

@dansup is the goal of loops to have the least amount of staged content possible ?

@dansup It is better that each instance administrator decides the limitation

@dansup Well if I will be able to download videos I randomly watch then I have zero problem with them being deleted after some time. But pls do not limit the amount of videos for accounts, I personally really dislike this idea.
Best wishes! :mastodon:

@dansup since Loops will be federated, how does it play the videos? Are they stored on each instance or only on the one where the video was posted?
And if they're only stored on the remote instance, does that leak the ip or does the client use a proxy when streaming?

@dansup I like it. If you were to go with a limit on the number of videos, it would be cool to gain more videos the older your account is. That way spam accounts can max post one video and older accounts are rewarded with more video slots.

If you do this though, I would want an option to automatically post the videos to a peertube account. I put a lot of effort into most of my videos so I wouldn't want them to disappear forever.
