@jdp23 confirmed that yes, in Mastodon v3 google will index the text of unlisted replies to indexed posts:

google.com/search?q=site%3Afri

It also appears that in Mastodon v4 you can do the same:

google.com/search?q=%22one+get

@jdp23 I don't think there is a great solution for this.... like, a warning modal when you are about to reply unlisted to a profile that mastodon knows to be indexed? also how would mastodon know a remote page is indexed? scraping the user's profile page before every interaction?
