Discarded products are often viable goods that are often tossed prematurely.

By repairing them, we will save €12 billion for consumers in the EU per year!

Soon, you will benefit from new consumer rights that make repairs more appealing and straightforward after the legal guarantee has expired.

Together, we can make a difference.

@EU_Commission yeah great idea, why EU is throwing (exporting at very low cost) banned old cars then?

@EU_Commission things like this excellent idea make me increasingly angry about BREXIT

@EU_Commission chissà se è stata fatta anche una valutazione di quanto costeranno in più gli elettrodomestici progettati per essere riparati.

@EU_Commission Does this include all the old / unsold clothes that get binned every year? Only all my local charities are struggling to cope with the load.

@EU_Commission Yeah that's great, but unfortunately until you lean on ALL manufacturers of washing machines to begin building affordable machines that can be repaired, rather than producing the welded tub units that can't - (Commonly found in a whole slew of sub €600 units) then this problem will persist.
You got all upset about USB-C on phones, but have dragged your feet for years on the plastic and electronic waste in cheaper non-economically or No-guarantee-to-be repairable washing machines.

@EU_Commission But whe the farmers don't want to follow your biodiversity, climate change, and pollution rules you cave in. Save the hypocrisy

Great initiative!

@EU_Commission You know how to find someone? Or accept the high but entirely reasonable labour costs? Or the gross profiteering on spare parts by major manufacturers?
Get back to me when you have that sorted out.

@EU_Commission Soon we will benefit from products that break down as soon as we use them and manufacturers will rely on us to repair their products once every week as a way to cut costs. 🙄

@EU_Commission

Laws should be in place that encourage the repair or maximum recycle of everything posible.

@EU_Commission how about you then pass the following acts?

- Force companies to release the full schematics, BOM, mechanical drawings, and software for products that they decide to stop supporting after X years or face a % fine of their net profit

- Reduce copyright and patent terms to <<< than one person's lifetime. Megacorps should not be able to ride the coattails of patents and IP that they bought out 10+ years ago and stifle all competition

- Require >5 years of support and warranty
