My argument wrt Sourcehut is that the choices made, makes the product less suitable to develop FOSS where broader involvement and collaboration of people with different IT skillsets is beneficial.

If e.g. I were Blender, I wouldn't choose Sourcehut, as my community would fall apart.

If I make this advanced FOSS network protocol stack, I might prefer Sourcehut as it is more likely to attract specialist contributors.

@humanetech@mastodon.social @blacklight@social.platypush.tech @ArneBab@rollenspiel.social I would agree with Drew's mindset here, you can't build a true free software stack if you depend on proprietary services. The choices made by #Sourcehut are to make every part of developing free software possible with free tools and free platforms. You do not need to interact with any proprietary bits if you want to contribute to free software on Sourcehut.
