@65dBnoise The problem there is satellite internet is sometimes the only way for very remote people/communities to get a net connection. Their alternative is being completely cut off from the net.

Of course, this is obvious and understandable. There are satellite solutions that can serve such communities, combined with terrestrial facilities, i.e. not direct connection by individuals to the satellite but through a local hub; satellite connections would then be trunk circuits. But that wouldn't maximize Musk's profits, which are based on exploiting a public resource, and creating space junk and light pollution.

It's been some time since we no longer live in the wild west 🙂
