@dansup some years ago, we were developing a company handbook SaaS product, simply called “handbook.” We had a cease and desist letter from Facebook’s UK legal firm on the basis that they owned the right to any account-based service, called and variation on [bodypart]book.

We backed down, but not before wasting as much of their (expensive) time as possible.

@dansup i only just realized that pixelfed features the same (old school, ugly) filters from IG and with the same name.
Why the choice of keeping those rather than creating new, more appealing, more original filters? I feel like it’s more of a legal liability than a feature, these days. Those filters stopped looking cool maybe in 2014
