🛂 We want to make travelling across EU borders smoother.

That’s why we are launching a public consultation on the digitalisation of travel documents. Your contributions will help establish a common standard in the Schengen area.

Digital travel documents can be easier to issue than physical ones and can facilitate border checks.

This initiative aims to decide on a common format for digital travel documents.

More surveillance? Great, I can't wait for it! 😏

@EU_Commission Well, if it's cheaper and less work than getting my analogue Swedish passport renewed, I'm all for it.

Great, another "have your say" on some piece of #Orwell'ian shit legislation that is foregone conclusion, to pretend the public has been "consulted" in a show of democracy ...

@EU_Commission Feeling so left out on Brexit Island. If ever you let the UK back in - and I realise that's a very distant hope - please insist we join Schengen as part of the deal.

@EU_Commission I filled the survey and submitted it but got errors about missing fields. I reviewed it all but all fields were good. In the 3rd attempt, some 5 to 10 extra questions appeared throughout the questionnaire, which were not there before. 🪲 And THAT is why we can't rely on tech solutions and replace physical documents which work fine. It should be an optional alternative but physical documents should be usable as backup in case of issues, always.

@EU_Commission That is ok as long as it is an option, I want my paper documents. You're attempting to digitalise far more than you can handle and secure: ID, passport, drivers license, health records... too much, too dangerous, too centralize.

@EU_Commission But would they be blue?

@EU_Commission A app would be nice, we already have it here for drivers licenses.

Tho i wouldn't mind having facial recognition only at checkpoints that allow you to just walk past without any slowdown.

@EU_Commission how about not controlling intraeuropean borders instead? Bavaria is shitting on the Schengen agreement for years!

@EU_Commission the form has many technical issues. I was not able to fill it out…. Just one example of the overlapping error messages attached.

@EU_Commission This looks great, I've been waiting almost one year for my passport to arrive... I needed it over 9 months ago though.

@EU_Commission A thing that annoys me when I am #travellingThroughTheUnion: The trains connections between member states, especially the regional ones, are poorly coordinated. I have to wait for ages. I would like to have an borderless #publictransport that is also affordable, not only between large centres, like Berlin, Brussels and Bordeaux, but also small towns.

@EU_Commission How about we start with not racially profiling EU citizens at EU borders first?

Thoughts?

@EU_Commission Will be interesting to see how well it works and whether this can be replicated elsewhere.

EU will just collapse soon or later and we will be able to better coordinate without you, your lobbyists and your mercantilist and neoliberal competition between countries.

I believe "globalism" is the new colonialism, therefore we the peoples need to work for planetisation. That is working in partnership with and for all life on the planet. We, the 25% of human population, can change the world.
We cannot stop the elite & their agenda, however we can/will/are in unity develop a new planetary agenda. That is what the transition we are presently going through, is for me. I don't want a "great reset" of business as usual.

@EU_Commission Surveillance bureaucracy. So if convenience is the thing, when are you going to eliminate *all* borders?
