@darius @Alexbbrown wouldn’t the opposite of local only just be a I’m normal post? They escape into the wold just fine. I don’t think anyone would really want a “No locals can see this” option and it’d lead to abuse and admin complications.

I want a way for users who have default set to local only to post public on a case by case basis (because I local only for all users by default)

Eg if there could be an emoji colon public colon which pushes the federation switch for users using an iOS client (other than Tusker)
