@EU_Commission What's the next step? Have the companies submitted proposals?

@EU_Commission Thanks for enabling sustainable travel!

On the map you shared, it's pretty difficult to see the difference between day and night train connections unless you zoom in and have good eyesight. Could you make night trains stand out more (e.g. using a different color) in the next iteration of the map?

@EU_Commission What's missing is the Baltic rail connecting the Baltic capitals to Poland (and from there to Germany and forwards).

@EU_Commission Germany and its rail network are obviously being given a wide berth.

@EU_Commission More activity for trains is to be commended. But why reach for low hanging fruits when you can spend the ressources needed for that on trying to reach high hanging ones, right? #trainsineurope

@EU_Commission what about Slovenia?

Will there also be any stimulations for countries to improve railway infrastructure?

In Slovenia train ride takes 2h and car takes 50min (if there is a little traffic) for same distance. (Seลพana - Ljubljana)
This is a relation where a lot of people are driving every day to their jobs with cars.
Now they want to add third lane, because highway is too crowded (that is also needed). But noone talks about improving railway infrastructure. (Trains are new)

@EU_Commission a very strange map missing many connections in the eastern part of EU. Poland is like nonexistent here at all ๐Ÿคฃ

And yes, trains over Germany are great...when they don't start to tell you "well, we don't go further, go find another train to keep travelling to your destination".

@EU_Commission how about setting Strasbourg and Luxembourg at the heart of all this as well ? Maybe that would help set the example by European civil servants and europoliticians as well. It's not easy to vote budgets for trains if it takes you ages to go from bxl to Lux, Strasbourg or vice versa.

@EU_Commission thank you for showing connection to London. Not all of us wish to be so insular. #UK #EU #Brexit #Eurostar #train

@EU_Commission 20-30 years ago I was regularly travelling from Swansea in Britain to Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius.

Back then I would catch the bus from Swansea to London because the train was too expensive. Then I would get the train (expensive) to Dover and the ferry to Calais (or preferably Bolohgne)

Then I'd hit trains. Calais to Berlin. Once in Berlin, train all the way to Eastern Europe.

Whenever I got the train, I'd get a sleeper berth. That way I could get some sleep.

It was cost driven. One time I even took the ferry from Kiel to Klaipeda and vice-versa.

@EU_Commission Cool initiative.

Hopefully the Romanian - Hungarian connection won't be like the other ones, where you have to wait for border checks on both sides because we're petty. Right? Right?

@EU_Commission @rafaelcaricio "๐Ÿš† Connecting ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡บ Hungary, ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น Austria and ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ด western Romania" - Franz Josef would approve. ๐Ÿซก

@EU_Commission It was about time. A pity eastern Europe is still poorly connected compared to western Europe. Hoping it will change soon.

@EU_Commission i'm sad that Poland is excluded from it.

Just recently some stupid local politicians were happy, cause their city started donating taxpayer money to fly from the local airport to the capital, only 200km (2h drive by car) away.
