With big data comes great responsibility.

Cars, lightbulbs, and wind turbines are a few examples of the growing number of connected devices generating data.

The European Data Act, which entered into force this month, will put you in control of your data while enabling a thriving European digital economy.

It will ensure fairness in the digital environment by clarifying who can create value from it and under which conditions.

@EU_Commission

"Will put you in control of your data"

"Innovative, open, on your terms."

Hahaha, wait, let me grab this from the FAQ:

"Why do we need a Data Act?

Currently, the full value of data in the European economy is not being reaped..."

Could it be that the real objective wasn't to protect people's rights at all? Weird how that happens, like, all the time. A real mystery.

Does anyone really need an internet-enabled dishwasher, that uses 3 Gb of data a day and consumes more electricity than an older version?

Why is a manufacturer of dishwashers suddenly in the data brokerage business?

@EU_Commission

maybe when one can't find a lightbulb on the market that doesnt' "generate data", that's the root problem.

missing: consumer protection that allows people to say no to #BigData

@EU_Commission it’s good to have sensible and honest people in charge of these internet services However, just been on Facebook and saw the article on Nicola Sturgeons details of her actions re the covid inquiry. I made two comments on my agreement and wrote a bit on freeports and SEZs and the take over of councils throughout UK.,after less than 20 minutes I looked again and the 3 comments that were on had disappeared. Not happy, see follow thread.
