right ... was for me a crazy night.. these 33y ago..
went to bed early at the 8th as an 6 hour schoolexamen on the 9th Nov at the my gymnasium in #Hamburg (beeing a 12th grad) was announced and switched the TV on in the morning of the 9th and was dumpstruck what had happend..
The examen was postponed by the teachers these day as no one was able to concentrate on anything else than politics in the classrooms #BerlinWall

I remember that so well, it felt like a new dawn onto an era of hope.

@EU_Commission I remember the goose bumps, after growing up in the divided world of West versus East, knowing families were split, people trying to leave the East shot, it was part of my childhood`s tapestry. We never imagined that this could ever be any different.

@EU_Commission Europe is the will to live together, the freedom and democracy for all of us! The falling of the Berlin wall was the start of the freedom for all of us in Eastern Europe to join back our family.

A deep personal regret: a friend called me early November 1989, telling me something was going to happen and she invited me to Berlin. I had some vague work commitments and declined. I would have so loved being there 😢
