The excellent @dansup (creator of @pixelfed) also maintains two very useful Fediverse tools:

➡️ fedidb.org - A dashboard for the Fediverse, with details of how server types and specific servers are growing.

➡️ fediverse.info/explore/people - An opt-in directory of people on the Fediverse sorted by keyword. You can add yourself to the directory by including special hashtags in your profile.

If you've used them before, take another look as they've both just been revamped.

@feditips

I added the #fedi22 tag to my profile and tried to add my ID to the directory. Over an hour later it's still telling me it can't find a valid tag.

Thanks for posting this.
fediverse.info/explore/people is really useful to find people with similar interests. It makes it a lot easier to find interesting people on Mastodon.

I advise everybody to have a look and then to register themselves..

@feditips @dansup @pixelfed

I tried the fediverse.info/explore/people to search and to add my account.

The search just has an hourglass (searched on "woodworker") and when I tried to add my account, I get "server error".

Not a good sign.

@feditips @dansup @pixelfed Speaking of... Why isn't the Pixelfed app on the Playstore and Appstore already? Plenty to improve, of course, but the latest version is better than ever.
