Don't get me wrong, I love Mastodon and everything it's done for the fediverse

That being said, I don't want Loops to become the only short form video platform, or the only well known one

I'm working with @stux on his own short vid platform called and PeerTube to enable seamless interop

We're stronger and better together

There is no reason NOT to work with "competitors" because when you have the right mindset and goals:

You build for the people, and listen wisely.

@dansup @stux

100% agree!

This is the approach I'm working on too. We don't need one single Goodreads replacement. Readers want different things, and there are so many alternative services that take different approaches.

Heck, I list them on my own site, and I'd love to work with many of them on interoperability between systems.

@dansup @stux I'm loving your energy and do also advocate for diversity in the fediverse. However, doesn't this also inflate the development and maintenance cost since for every service their own apps for every platform has to be developed and maintained? Isn't this quite costly over time? :Blobhaj:

@dansup @stux I remember when Vine was the only short video platform. I never ever visited the website, but we saw Vines everywhere on Twitter and Tumblr back then. Eventually it folded, and then TikTok came and filled the void. Then Youtube and Instagram and all kinds of platforms suddenly added short videos in order to get a piece of the cake as well. I still don't get the appeal of short vertical video.
