I've said it countless times before, if you're working on an project and would like more visibility, DM me!

I know how lucky I was, and how hard it is to get noticed now, we all started from nothing and I get that

People over profits is what makes the so special โค๏ธ

@dansup I built a simple ActivityPub server for running accounts for my side projects to avoid running a whole Masto instance bugle.lol

Was more of a learning exercise than anything but it works (e.g. @wegotfamily) and I wrote up everything I learnt here: rknight.me/building-an-activit

@dansup@mastodon.social I built a tumblr clone and then conected it to the fedi. There is an alpha for the instructions on self hosting. It might have some bugs and the UI needs lotsvof improvements

The instructions are in the backend repo readme

It still does not support polls, might do next week

@dansup Hey! Not strictly an ActivityPub project but it depends and uses the Mastodon API: mastonews.com

It's an RSS aggreggator for the Verified Links of the accounts you follow, so you have a 24h news of the personal blogs and quirky websites from the people your favourite Mastodon people.

@dansup I just released v1.0 of a new and full featured Mastodon API client for PHP, and a bit of exposure would be really nice ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ™

@dansup @aral while people over profits is a good goal, do ensure that you can eat and have a decent roof over your head: people are willing to pay for good software and services... and hosting something costs money, and people need to eat. Thanks for building!

@dansup what is the security purpose of the public key stuff anyway? Isn't all of this over HTTPS?

@dansup Not sure if they want more visibility but @grindhold is building a federated classified ads platform #flohmarkt

@dansup I've built fediseer (fediseer.com/) and explained what it is here: dbzer0.com/blog/overseer-a-fed

Could use some more people knowing about and integrating with it. I even built a python SDK for it github.com/db0/pythonseer

@dansup
Would research, promotion, and/or public initiatives count?

@dansup Until the people own the infrastructure and the revenue from the platforms the people will always remain the product.

I don't even know if my toots are getting out and rarely visit Mastodon because I don't understand the interface.

If advertisers had the user SELECT adverts via OPT-IN parameters so they get adverts they NEED instead of what the advertiser is trying to sell it would be better. A second feature that would be great is if advertisers were to have their adverts rated and if they rating goes negative the advert is no longer shown to anyone. All of a sudden adverts would have CONTENT that people upvote and are prepared to see. Sort of like what YT does with their DIY videos except with adverts and the PEOPLE earn the advertising revenue.

I hope someone with the power to speak to the correct people sees this.
