Have you ever interacted with the website of another Mastodon server and found yourself having to re-enter your username and password, again and again?

There's a new browser extension called FediAct which lets you directly interact with other servers' websites without having to log in again or copy/paste addresses.

➡️ Chrome:
chrome.google.com/webstore/det

➡️ Firefox:
addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firef

More info about it at:

➡️ github.com/Lartsch/FediAct

The developer of FediAct is @lartsch

@feditips @lartsch i don't think i have ever had to enter my own username and password however i often have to copy the remote username and paste it into my local instance to follow/boost/like/reply

@feditips @lartsch if on android phone then does this mean I have to access Mastodon web via Chrome? I'm a DuckDuckGo browser by default and have my Mastodon accounts favourited in DDG. Tusky allows cross instance access without re-logging in but it'd be nice to do it on the mobile web - I prefer the sidebar interface & options 😀. TIA.

@feditips @lartsch So, great, but to attract the people fleeing to Post -- owned by tech VC and massive data gatherer Marc Andreesen -- installing a browser extension is more cumbersome than setting a cookie. Cookies aren't evil. Only evil cookies are evil.

Thanks! That's been a stumbling block for me as I learn to use the system.

@feditips @lartsch poor naming convention. I thought this was something to do with the FBI.

Hi again, ok it happened again. I went to check on a poster and got the message see the posts on another server, went there, all black, and went to boost a post from them so I could see it and had to go through the same rigamarole . Do I need to clear cache or something?@lartsch

@feditips @lartsch This is great! Would be great if @Gargron and other devs can take inspiration from this. Maybe even make it a recommended add-on.

See also my issue github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i, that can partly fix this on the user's server itself.

I went to the link and a popup told me this app wants data from all the websites I visit. For that reason, I did not add the app to my browser.
Could you please let me know why the app needs that kind of information?

@feditips @lartsch is Microsoft supported? I use that as my search engine on my android. Although I have a pixel 6 pro, I much prefer Microsoft as my search engine etc. Hate Google. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 #microsoft #google
