Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, ByteDance, Meta, Microsoft

These large, systemic online platforms were designated as gatekeepers under the Digital Markets Act.

As of midnight today, they won't be able to use unfair practices towards those depending on them – with a fine of up to 20% of their global turnover for multiple failures.

The will ensure:
- More services to choose and switch to
- Direct access to services
- Fairer prices
- New opportunities to compete

@EU_Commission Not related at all to the subject but why in your graphic the checkboxes seem to be incorrectly flipped horizontally?

@EU_Commission Don't forget about Cloud Flare. Is right about time that someone looks closer at their very shitty practices. As well as the things that are done by another social media platform #MeWe, for example discrimination, racism, harassments vs. women, LGBT+ people, violations of many european laws etc. They should be asap audited and very well checked by your specialists. Because that what they are using in their advertisements are only and simply a bunch of pitty lies and misinformation

@EU_Commission Apple is yet to comply , make an example out of Apple of what happens when the gatekeepers don't abide by our rules :-)

@EU_Commission When will #Cloudflare be forced to stop their blatant discrimination against Tor users?

Just because I use Tor, doesn't mean I'm second-class netizen who must be asked to pass captcha at ever step. No, I'm not a robot! No, I shouldn't have to prove it every 10 minutes!

@EU_Commission am I the only one who reads "designated as gatekeepers" and think about wolves being the shepherds of the sheep? 😅

@EU_Commission i don't understand the dic tac toe graphic component but more consumer rights are always great.
The best thing those giants can say is "we will cease operation in europe" because then due to lack of competition there would quickly be european companies offering the same. For example otto.de is a german amazon.com and given a chance would probably quickly grow into their role of european everything-store.

In other words: they can't threaten to leave b/c then China 2.0 would happen

@EU_Commission I did buy a closed phone but the manufacturer rolled out an update that “opened" it. They said they will not close the phone unless I move from the EU. This clearly was false advertisement as I did not buy an “opened" iPhone. Apple should be forced to close their phone again so I get what I paid for 🤬
