You can use Mastodon's filter system to automatically hide posts containing certain words or phrases or hashtags. The posts can either be hidden behind a warning, or just hidden completely.

Although they're usually used for hiding offensive material, filters can be used for any reason. Some people use filters to avoid spoilers of an upcoming film, others use them to filter out Wordle posts for example.

I like following hashtag StarTrek, but there are people who live-post syndicated episodes of Star Trek under the hashtag AllStarTrek too. I don't want to see those posts, but I don't want to unsubscribe from hashtag StarTrek, so I just filter posts containing the AllStarTrek tag. Works like a charm!
