Just imagine seeing this thing arriving somewhere on Earth, lowering a rover then taking off. Science fiction becomes reality!

Too bad the Sky Crane had to crash land after depositing Perseverance; it would have made a great addition to the Jezero history museum collection! 🙂

Yes, yes! Just put a small solar panel and a UHF beacon on the deck, and try to land it somewhere, nothing elaborate, just lower it on the ground vertically, even drop it from a low altitude. No debris littering the place, useful radio science done with almost zero cost.

That there hasn't been even one paper on UHF radio propagation in Jezero is very disappointing for me. Knowing how UHF propagation works *on the ground* will be very important from now on to every Mars mission.
