@annika How was typing your username better usability? I heard complaints and confusion about it all the time. It annoyed people how many steps there were, too. People were sharing the lifehack that you can just copypaste URLs into your search bar, so I just made that lifehack the primary way to do it.

@Gargron If I had to guess, I think the average person is more familiar with their username@domain than what a URL is and how to paste it into their home instance's search bar. But again, that's just a guess :) Interesting that you got feedback to the contrary!

@Gargron @annika As you replied to my ask with a link to your toot. I'm a software engineer myself and I found it super confusing and I've seen others comment that, like me, they put it in the search/url bar on their browser. Now that I understand the rationale I get where you're going with it but it seems like there might be ways to iterate further? Maybe a browser extension, for example?
